About Us
The Citywide Coalition on Education (CCE) is a collaborative alliance of organizations committed to advancing educational equity and excellence across Houston. We mobilize community partners to promote research-based policies and practices informed by the voices of students, families, and educators. By raising awareness of critical education issues and advancing a shared agenda, CCE works to ensure every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Board Goals
With support from CCE, the Houston ISD Board of Managers adopted a districtwide goal to increase the percentage of graduates who are both Texas Success Initiative (TSI)-ready and earn an industry-based certification.

Vaping DAEP Waiver
CCE advised the Houston ISD District Advisory Committee and the Board of Managers to adopt a policy allowing local discretion under HB 114, avoiding mandatory DAEP placement for first vaping offenses and minimizing disruptions to student learning.

Teacher Retention
CCE informed HISD’s implementation of the Teacher Excellence System (TES) and the PREP Allotment under HB 2 by advancing policy asks to ensure funding decisions better support educators and student outcomes
